The Bible presents Jesus Christ not merely as a teacher or prophet, but as the eternal Son of God, fully divine and fully human. The King James Version reveals His nature through His words, works, and relationship to the Father. In Scripture, Jesus is shown as preexistent, holy, powerful, loving, and central to all creation.
Jesus Is Eternal
The Gospel of John begins with a striking declaration: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1). This means Jesus, the Word made flesh, did not begin in Bethlehem; He existed before creation itself. John also writes, “All things were made by him” (John 1:3), showing that Jesus was present and active from the beginning.
Jesus Is the Image of God
Colossians describes Jesus as “the image of the invisible God” (Colossians 1:15). This means that to see Jesus is to see the character of God revealed in human form. The same passage says that “by him were all things created” and “by him all things consist” (Colossians 1:16–17), affirming both His divine authority and sustaining power.
Jesus Is Holy and Righteous
The Bible shows Jesus as completely without sin and perfectly righteous. Though He walked among sinners, He remained pure and set apart for God’s purpose. His life reveals holiness in action: compassion without compromise, truth without error, and authority without corruption. The KJV presents Him as the one in whom “all fulness dwell[s]” (Colossians 1:19), pointing to His complete perfection.
Jesus Is Loving and Merciful
One of the clearest revelations of Jesus’ nature is His love. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son” (John 3:16), and Jesus is the Son given for the world’s salvation. He welcomed the weary, healed the broken, and offered rest to the burdened. His mercy is seen not only in what He taught, but in what He endured for humanity.
Jesus Is Powerful and Sovereign
Jesus is not only gracious; He is also Lord over all. Colossians says He is “before all things” and that “by him all things consist” (Colossians 1:17). His authority extends over creation, life, death, and salvation itself. The Bible portrays Jesus as one who commands with power and reigns with purpose.
Jesus Is Personal and Near
Although Jesus is eternal and exalted, He is also deeply personal. He walked with people, spoke to them directly, and invited them into fellowship with Himself. In John 7:38, Jesus speaks of living water flowing from within the one who believes in Him, showing that He does not merely rule from afar but gives life from within. His presence is not abstract; it is relational and transformative.
Jesus Reveals the Father
Jesus makes the unseen God known. As Colossians says, He is “the image of the invisible God” (Colossians 1:15). He does not simply point to truth; He embodies it. Through Jesus, believers come to understand the heart, holiness, mercy, and glory of the Father in a way that words alone cannot fully express.
Conclusion
According to the Bible, Jesus is eternal, holy, loving, powerful, and near. He is the visible revelation of the invisible God and the center of all creation and redemption. To study Jesus in the KJV is to see the fullness of divine nature displayed in a person who calls humanity to faith, repentance, and life.
